Live from Camp...

Well, apologies for no daily updates as of now, but here's a bumper-mega-super-hyper-update to catch up.

On Sunday all the tents were set up with remarkable ease, and camp started well, despite boggier than usual ground.

The three patrols have named themselves The Muppets, The Barbie Boys and The Royal Peacocks!

On Monday the scouts did air rifle shooting and then went back to base to spend the rest of the day gadget making, using nothing but sticks, string and a bit of imagination. Some very impressive dressers were made. Amazingly they are still standing two days later and have been put to good use.

On Tuesday the riding stables layed on a gymkhana especially for the scouts. Only two fell off , but no real damage and the horses were fine! All came home with a rosette.

The scouts `were then given a budget and set off to invade Tesco's to shop for the "ready, steady, cook" competition. No-one went over budget and some fantastic creations were cooked. The winning team  were the Barbie Boys who impressed the leaders with their team working.

The evening was rounded off with a mini colditz competition with the cubs doing the searching.Unfortunately only one scout patrol were lost, but we are sure they will return before we go home....

Weds started off with us joining in the Centenary celebrations on the campsite

We are now off to the coast to do some Sea Fishing before going to Arlington to watch the Stock Car Racing

Thursday we will be off to the 100th Centenary International Jamboree in Essex where 216 countries are being represented.

Then Friday we are planning to be back at the Felbridge Village Hall at 3pm.

Dear Parents,

Below is a useful check list of items for camp. It is a good idea to let your child pack their own bag once you have laid out the items together so they know what is in it. Try to pack each days clothes in a separate plastic bag, then if they happen to put something wet in the bag everything else doesn’t get wet. Have a separate bag for jumper and long trousers. Please feel free to add to the list if necessary. Even though we are going in summer, the evenings can get cold. Any questions don’t hesitate to ring me.

Summer Camp Check List

Bring a PACKED LUNCH

Suggestion - Named camera with film or disposable camera

Soft Bag or Rucksack NO CASES

Blankets Pillow (Dark pillowcase recommended!)

Wash Kit Hand Towel

Loo Roll Tea Towel 2 Pegs

Named Hanger (suitable for hanging trousers on)

EMERGENCY.

Please Do Not Visit Site Unless Prior Arrangement Has Been Made as this can often upset a child who has been fine.

Please do not ask parents on camp to keep you informed on your child, it is unfair on them and they may inadvertently give out a negative message through misinterpreting how a scout handles life on camp. Call me if concerned.

I will always contact a parent if a serious problem arose or if a scout continued to be unhappy.

All Parents on camp have been Police Checked

My Mobile is 07050 163379 (I will check for messages most nights)
