Meet at FVH at 6pm, no uniform but with permission to camp form.
SATURDAY 10.45 am.
The Scouts enjoyed the evening bowling and joined the boats
at 11.00 pm. After a good nights sleep, they have all eaten a
hearty cooked breakfast, and are ready to set sail for the
I.O.W. They should have a brilliant sail as the wind is forecast
to reach Force 6. Tonight they are planning to stay in
Cowes. The weather is very mild, and unusually,
no one has fallen in yet!
SATURDAY 6.30 pm.
The Scouts enjoyed a brisk sail over to Cowes. Lunch was at the
Folly Inn, down the estuary of the River Medina. They are now
moored back in Cowes, preparing to go off for a fish and chip
supper.
The weather forecast for Sunday indicates a lively sail back.
Amazingly, still all the Scouts remain dry!
SUNDAY 12.45 pm
Both boats are now safely moored back on the Hamble. With
winds gusting to Force 7, it was a very brisk sail back, which
all the Scouts thoroughly enjoyed. At present, they are about to
have lunch, and will then pack up the boats and set off home.
Their E.T.A. will probably be earlier than previously
advised, and will be posted here when they are nearer home.
REFLECTIONS
This was a fantastic group of Scouts and all of them seemed to thoroughly
enjoy themselves. It is hoped that their interest they showed in learning new
knots will continue through scouting. The weather reached Gusts of Force 7-8,
which really gave the Scouts an opportunity to sail safely in two very well
equipped boats whilst experiencing the thrill of fast sailing. Lets hope there will
be many more trips this fun.
Thanks to Bertie for giving up his weekend to help me with this trip.
